“Amrita-ta-ta” grew up between May and June 2000, and was scheduled to air June 17. It was recorded, constructed, mixed & edited by Muffy in the Abbxcess bedroom, in the company of the diabolical LadyMac. Copyright 2000 DangerMuff Enterproses.
An interesting internal exploration of sensuality
and strangeness, from the release that gave the Amrita-ta-ta
studio its name. Years before, when I had been toying with the idea
of making Frequent Mutes, I had written a series of slightly provocative
approaches called "350 files" (loosely connected to the first chapter of
Thomas Pynchon's
Gravity's Rainbow). This seemed like a good
time to use those files. As well, "Rats!" and "Star!" was another
early Mute sketch, containing elements of "Syncopated City" (Leopard
Betty, Pony Tale)
Some of the extended samples were taken from the
incredible film Thundercrack, and some others from Fellini's Roma.
"Bad Day At The H-Bar" provides the quantum element to the Mute, and was
inspired by Brian Greene's The Elegant Universe. "Virginia"
later became "Feel My Purse," and appeared on the Pony Tale CD with
an extended version of "The Dead Horse" and a different version of "Oswego."
