MP3's from UPhold, GREENman, and other projects!
If a song isn't connected to anything, that means it's been removed to save me some storage space and bandwidth. If you'd like to hear it, let me know!

Remixes |

Kelly McMichael is an incredible local singer-songwriter, and we keep on ending up at the same events. In an inspired mood I asked if I could remix one of her songs, and here it is! This was an interesting experiment because I only had a single monophonic source -- guitar and vocals -- to work with, but I like the results an awful lot. So when's your major label debut, Kelly! Here's a fun little remix of Fourprint's "Inducer," originally from the 2001 album "Civic." |

"Bright Blue Jungle" (UPhold, 2004) |
||
|
|
The first (and final) foray into the Bright Blue Jungle, guided by a very enthusiastic (but somewhat sloppy) voodoo queen. |

Bedwetters |
|
A story of paranoia in The Grey Yonder; it's about how one malevolent spirit in an apartment can ruin life for everybody...even if that spirit is only doing his laundry. |
| "Pony Tale" (UPhold, 2001) | ||
| Flirty Bouncegain! | ![]() |
The upbeat opening track off "Pony Tale," giving us a glimpse of a world where Jeff Lynn and Geri Halliwell had a successful (but somewhat off-kilter) collaboration. |
| The Slowshoe | ![]() |
A quiet, responsible personality has an honest chat with a somewhat more outgoing personality. Everybody feels guilty and angry, all at the same time. |

| God Walk Dog | ![]() |
The original version of this track ("Dog Walk God") may have appeared on a compilation released by Mutant Cactus called "Another Chair In The Bored Room." This reworked version appeared on MUTE7 ("God Text"). |

Eva and the Bats |
|
MUTE8 ("Dog From A Rat's Ear") was all about making older GREENman tracks (from the first cassette, "Ernesto") into things that wouldn't actually bore you to tears. It was a noble task and occasionally successful... |

| Hot Comfort, Cold Comfort NEW! | ![]() |
Originally from "Drabbletails" (1996), this is a slightly remixed version. Agnetha and Frida understand the inability to sleep while the bed does a techno shake. |

Transexpose, 1998 |
||
|
|
"Transexpose" was developed as a "Frequent Mute" for CKMS based around themes of cross-dressing and violence. I must have been awfully depressed at the time because it all turned out pretty bleak, as evidenced by this happy little excerpt. I'm MUCH happier now. |

This is based off an early jam with Detlef Burghard (on guitar), and it begins pretty much where Detlef got tired of it. It segues into a lot of previously unreleased experimental tracks that were just sitting around on master tapes doing nothing. Somehow, when they all got remixed here, they started doing "something." |

September (excerpt) NEW! |
![]() |
When we first moved into The Grey Yonder, things were very bad indeed. The people were terrifying and the environment was toxic. This CD was an expression of life in The Grey Yonder. Scott Irving played bass during this, an excerpt from the first track. |

| Where Are You? (Plexus Master) | ![]() |
"Where Are You?" (formerly "Far Away") was the first useful thing I did with Mindsculpture; I'm on the sampler/drum machine, Jared is playing drones, and Neb is doing all the acoustic work. This version was mastered at Plexus Studios and appeared on the first (short) run of "Eight Uneasy Pieces." Subsequent runs of the tape feature an earlier rough mix. |
| Broken Vows | ![]() |
A track recorded late '93, this consisted of three main elements: keyboard sequences, a sampled vocal cut-up, and a live attack on a recycling bin full of cans and rotting gunk. This is a rough mix made the same day we recorded it; unfortunately the master tape was accidentally deleted, so this was never finished or released. |
| E.E.G. | ![]() |
The opening to our "Eight Uneasy Pieces" tape, this a divine moment when everything came together in one place (which occasionally happened with Mindsculpture). We tried to reproduce this live several times and it always sounded terrible. This is the version from the original tape so it sounds a little fuzzy. |
