Conceived, performed and recorded by Luna during the winter of 1995 (interpolating bits from previous summers). Introduction recorded 'on the spot' in Studio B of CKMS, the rest recorded in the Blackhead/Whitehead bedroom. Special thanks to everyone directly connected with this recording in some way: Jim, Neb & Eli especially; and thanks to the support group (Bronwyn, Scott, Nounoc etc!)
A format that was becoming increasinly common for
GREENman: long, interconnected pieces with discreet segments, strung together
to tell a story. In this case, it was the story of Samantha, built
by Chuck in order to get revenge on those responsible for screwing him,
particularly Reverend Ward. It ended with Chuck's justification of
Samantha's crimes, and everything worked out well enough to inspire a (never
completed) full-length expose called 12 of 23.
"Genius Is Genius" is a sort of strange reconfiguration
of "Sin Is Sin Blood." "Hiss" was an attempt at making a song entirely
out of the bane of home tapers: tape hiss. To make it a bit more
interesting, a chorus pedal was introduced, and it ended up making some
very strange interference patterns. "Sloppy Chop Shop" employed super-fast
sampler triggering to simulate the sound of simulated speech (a technique
later used in "Venezuela" on Pleasure Pain Fighting Rose.)
The b-side of the cassette is a series of short
songs by the British group, TUOB.
