material at the beginning and/or end)
MS - Missing Scene (A scene that is NOT in the Workprint version)
AT - Alternate Take (similar to the released version, but obviously a different take of the scene)
LD - Looped Dialogue (this is an original dialogue line, before it was changed for the released
version)
AD - Audible Director (you can hear Dan O'Bannon shouting directions)
| DS: Arrival Of The First Ambulance | We see the first ambulance arrive at the funeral home. |
| ES / AT / AD: No Blood Pressure... | The paramedics fiddle with their equipment for a longer period of time, and parts of the scene are alternate takes. When their thermometers go off, the Director says "Beep...beep." When the Freddy yells "What are you guys saying?" one of the paramedics says "It's alright, it's alright, we're just talking about the equipment." |
| ES: Punks In The Warehouse | Without the loud music, you can hear more clearly what the punks are saying,
and there is some additional dialogue at the end: SPIDER: Wait a minute, where's Freddy? TINA: He was gone, he wasn't here when I showed up. CASEY: Oh, well that must have been him who went into that funeral parlor! TINA: What funeral parlor? When? CASEY: The one in the cemetary! Well, he was with some other guy, and it was a while ago, and it was Chuck and me saw him! TINA: Why didn't you say something? CASEY: {Screaming} WELL I'M NOT YOUR HUBBY! It was Chuck told me not to say anything! CHUCK: Hey, don't blame it on me man, I didn't know it was Freddy, I mean what the fuck is Freddy doing in a funeral parlor for anyway? SPIDER: Alright, alright, alright, listen. We're gonna go over to the funeral house, we'll see if Freddy's there, we'll call somebody. SCUZZ: Hang on, I don't wanna call no cops! CHUCK: Get fucked, Scuzz, that cop paranoia, we're in deep shit here! TINA: Let's go, please! SPIDER: Alright, alright, let's just go! |
| TS: Run To The Cemetary | The run from the warehouse to the cemetary is longer, and there is a lot more screaming. |
| ES: The Dead Rise | When the dead crawl from their graves, there are more (and longer) shots of them crawling around. Trash, wandering by herself and crying, says "Hey wait, you guys, I ain't got no shoes! You guys, wait!" The scene ends before she is attacked. Her actual attack by the corpses is moved to after Casey says "I thought she was with us!" |
| ES: The Paramedics Leave | PARAMEDIC: Except you're conscious, so...we don't know what it means. Except that
we obviously have to get you to a hospital. When Ernie goes to investigate the noise at the front door, there is some more additional dialogue: PARAMEDIC: Listen, we're gonna go get a couple of stretchers, radio into the hospital... just hang in there, we won't be a second. FRANK: {Patting Freddy on the arm} Sorry, son. |
| MS: Paramedic Deaths | The murder of the paramedics is not shown. |
| LD: Tina Reunited With Freddy | As Tina is hugging Freddy in the embalming room, there is this dialogue: BERT: Ernie? Where are the paramedics? ERNIE: I'll...I'll go get them. Get my own car started. |
| TS: Dwarf Attack | There is slightly more footage of the dwarf running (and falling). |
| AT: Phone In The Office | When Ernie tries to use the phone in the office, the take is very different from the
one in the released version: he doesn't close the steel shutters, leaving the window
wide open. |
| LD: Hammer And Nails | Without the music, the dialogue as Bert, Ernie, Spider and Scuzz board up the funeral parlor is more audible. Bert says "Get your ass in gear." There are more shots of them fighting off the corpses outside the chapel windows, and of the "glass" breaking. |
| ES / AT / LD: Explanation | When Spider demands to know what's going on, Bert says "I don't have to tell you anything, you black bastard." After Bert says the chemical was ordered by the military, Spider asks "Well, what the hell does the chemical do?" and Bert replies "Well somehow, I'm not sure how, it brings the dead bodies back to life, literally back to fucking life! " Scuzz and spider both say "Christ!" Freddy's description of what happened, and Scuzz's reaction, is also a very different take. |
| TS: Another Paramedic Ambulance | As the corpses attack the second paramedic ambulance, Bert yells "Shit! Goddamn, fucking shit!" |
| ES / MS: Scuzz Attack | Their attempts to fend off the zombies in the broken window, and the attack on Scuzz, go on longer. Scuzz exclaims "I've got an axe!" and Bert says "Get the kid out!" several times. There are no external shots, you don't see the flesh fall out of the Half Woman's mouth, and you don't see the bite out of Scuzz's head. |
| AT / LD: Interrogating The Half Woman | This alternate take has the dialogue shuffled around a bit and changed slightly. As Ernie ties her up, he mutters to himself ("no-no-no...uh-huh, uh-huh..."). The voice of the Half Woman is somebody on set. |
