So ya think ya wanna GET MUFFY for your next big event?

Hopefully, this collection of "Frequently Asked Performance Questions" will help you figure out if I'm right for your event.  When you've decided -- or if you have any questions I haven't addressed here -- feel free to email me.

1. Hey, Muffy, what exactly do you DO?
Hey, I'm glad you asked!  I do drag...that is, I show up at your event in drag, and then I go from there.  I have a range of spectacular looks, and if you have a particular theme in mind I will do my best to fit in.  I'm a good mingler/schmoozer with a pleasant attitude, especially if you get me a little bit drunk.  You'd be surprised at how much 'zing' a drag queen can add to a fundraiser, auction, or charity event, even if she's not actually performing.

But that's not all!  I also DJ events.  I have a huge retro collection (70's - 90's, though I can dip back to the 40's if you warn me beforehand).  If you don't want retro, I am easily trained: give me your collection and some quick pointers, and I can get your dancefloor hopping in no time.

In addition I do "drag shows," which involve lip-syncing (not singing!), a charismatic stage presence, and hostessing.  I have a broad repertoire (kitschy songs, novelties, 40's & 50's bop/swing, sincere ballads, oddball alternatives, sexy stuff) and I work well alone or in a group.

And if you just want a walking clothes-horse, I do runway modeling now and then.

2. So what DON'T you do?
I don't do anything sexier than basic burlesque.  I don't show up at the venue out of drag.  I don't do "characters" (ie. Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand, etc.)  I might have a characteristic look or attitude for a particular number, but I'll still always be Muffy.  That's just the kinda gal I am!
3. What sorts of things have you done in the past?
I have performed in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Brantford, Hamilton, Guelph, Toronto and Los Angeles.  I have done shows for club openings and charity events.  I am a regular DJ for the University of Waterloo's "Boys & Boiz & Girls & Grrrls" shows (mainly current dance and R&B), I spent over a year DJ'ing a "Vintage Night" at Club Renaissance, and I have DJ'd the local "Prom Night II" event for bitter post-adolescents.  I took part in Hamilton's "Slice O' PIE" improv shows.  I have done runway modeling in the past for Delirium Clothing, and to top it all off I am a radio hostess on CKMS.

In terms of specific events, I have performed at Toronto's "Trannypunk" show, Waterloo's Clay and Glass Gallery fundraisers, and I have been a regular feature in Guelph's "Drag Yer Ass Out" extravaganzas.  I was the special "mystery performer" for the Sisbro & Co company launch in Toronto.  As a guest of the Los Angeles newspaper "LA Weekly," I was flown down to perform at the gala showing of "Kaante," a landmark Bollywood/Hollywood film, and I also gave an "Oscar-style" introduction to the film with noted film critic David Chute.

4. How much do your services cost?

My price is negotiable and dependent on several factors: how far will I need to travel?  Is it a charity event?  Will I be getting a great deal of exposure, particularly in the advertising for the event?  Are you providing me with accomodations?  Is it going to be FUN?

Just contact me and ask!

5. What do you need to do a show?
Very little, but there are a few basic things that every queen desires:

1.

A place to change!  This doesn't have to be enormous and lush, but it helps to have at least a chair, a table, and a place to hang clothes.

2.

A mirror in the changeroom!  It's in our best interests that I don't look scruffy.

3.

A place to perform!  It doesn't need to be an elevated stage (but that would help).

4.

Lights!  It's great to have a spotlight, but any old lighting will do.  Though I'll warn you that EVERYBODY looks ugly under fluorescents.

5.

A P.A. system!  At least one CD player capable of playing burned CDs is essential.  If you'd like DJ services, two CDs and a mixer are necessary.  If you'd like some hostessing, a microphone helps.

6.

A plan!  Depending on how much work you'd like me to do, I either need a specific schedule or just an idea of how much time I have to fill.  If you want a solo drag show with costume changes, I will need at least five minutes to change in between sets.  If a costume change IS required, it's good to have a "dresser" available.
6. Great!  Can you show up tomorrow?
Maybe!
